Talking about the ever-growing relationship between India and Israel, Israel Ambassador to India, Daniel Carmon said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will be on his first visit to India soon with an objective to strengthen co-operation between the two countries.

According to a report in the Jerusalem Post, which quoted Indian media, while the government (the Defence Ministry) has said no, the Indian military establishment remains keen on the purchase of Rafael Advanced Defense Systems going through.

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, which charts arms sales around the world, Israel sold $599m worth of arms to India in 2016, making it India's second-largest weapons supplier after Russian Federation, which sold India $1.6 billion in arms that year, says the Post.

The Israeli Prime Minister is also scheduled to call on Indian President Ramnath Kovind and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi, following which he will visit Agra, Ahmedabad, and Mumbai.

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said on Thursday that in the coming weeks he will be meeting "with the leaders of three of the four strongest countries in the world".

However, India was among more than 120 countries last month to vote in favour of a resolution calling for the United States to drop its recent recognition of Jerusalem as Israel´s capital.
