All of Tarantino's past work has been distributed by The Weinstein Company and, well...nobody wants that guy's name stuck on the front of their movie these days, so Quentin has shopped the film around Hollywood.

The as of yet untitled ninth picture by Quentin Tarantino about Charles Manson has picked up a huge actor for its roster.

Sony's ability to market films and appeal to an global market is said to be what led to the decision. Precisely what this film is about remains a mystery, as Tarantino has confusingly said that it's not actually about the Manson murders, despite Manson victim Sharon Tate reportedly playing a central role in the narrative (and the film releasing on August 9th, the date she was killed).

According to Deadline, the 43-year-old Oscar victor nabbed one of the "two meaty male roles" circled by Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt, which was referred to only as an 'aging actor'. Specifics on the movie are still under wraps, however, the site is reporting that it will not be fully focused on the Manson murders, in which a group of Charles Manson followers entered the home of actress Sharon Tate and murdered her and four other people. The actor and director have previously collaborated on Django Unchained [2012].

According to Deadline, the Manson movie will be an ensemble movie (Tarantino's specialty) similar to his hit film Pulp Fiction.

This will mark DiCaprio's first film since winning the Oscar in 2016 for his performance in Alejandro G. Iñárritu's "The Revenant".

Sony declined to comment for this story.

Tarantino and DiCaprio are partnering up once again. The untitled film already has a date set for August 9th, 2019 and would mark nearly four years since audiences last saw DiCaprio on screen (he does have other projects in the works, but this will likely be the first one to make it to completion).
