While Destiny 2 players could only receive high-end Ghosts, Sparrows, and ships randomly through Eververse's Bright Engrams, earned by leveling up or buying with real-world money, Bungie wrote in the post that the platform "was never meant to be a substitute for end game content and rewards".
A full road map followed, starting with an update on January 30 to include Masterwork Armor. Moreover, many felt like Bungie was encouraging players to spend money on Eververse if they wanted to collect all of the enticing Dawning armor and items.
The first thing that they're changing is in the balance of new content.

Strike Scoring is coming to Nightfall and replacing the current time limit mechanic. This will favor activity rewards over Bright Engrams. February will see Nightfall High Scores revealed in-game through new emblems, and will also unlock reward. The mod system will be reworked to "reducing redundant mods, more unique theming, and greatly increasing their impact on your power", though Bungie noted parts or all could be pushed to early Spring due to scope.
